Dentists have complained that Cerasmart dental crowns fail prematurely where the crown debonded from the tooth and dentists had to bear the costs of the replacements. In a similar case, Sauder Schelkopf and co-counsel reached a $32.5 million settlement with 3M on behalf of a national class of over 7000 dentists. The lawsuit alleged warranty claims for faulty dental crown products that would unbond. The lawsuit alleged that 3M breached a 10-year limited warranty and violated a numerous state law claims when it sold the dentists Lava Ultimate, a ceramic material that dries to form a crown.
